Presentation theme Environmental Accounting and Financial Performance of Japanese Automotive Companies: Revisiting the Direction of Relationships
Conference name International Conference on Business, Economics and Information Technology, Guam, USA
Summary
Thirteen years into my investigation, the virtuous cycles exhibited between environmental innovations and financial performance has changed. Toyota and Suzuki still have their virtuous cycles but interestingly, Honda has exhibited more. I concluded that sustainability studies involve longitudinal time periods. The first part of my structural break in the panel data regression generalized least squares methods reveal the bi-directional relationship of the constructs. However, due to economic circumstances, the latter part of the structural break analysis reveal insignificant relationships. Nevertheless, on the longitudinal time period, there is still a positive impact of environmental innovations on financial performance and vice-versa. Each company warrants a separate investigation on what they perform best or poorly with regards to environmental innovations.
