Summary
Our results show the mix relationship of environmental responsibility and financial performance in the Japanese automotive spare parts and chemical companies. Automotive companies exhibit the most virtuous cycles in the relationship of financial performance and environmental responsibility while other industries show more evidence to support the slack availability of resources.

Summary
Our findings point to risk minimization efforts of electronics companies in spite of declining profitability. Their sustainability performances are justified by the legitimacy granted to them as socially responsible that translates into improved revenue generation.

By using panel data, I collectively regress social and environmental costs with measures of market and financial performance. Social performance appears to be insignificant while there is a predominant concern for the environment.

Our findings point to the stark contrasts between the automotive and electronics companies, allow us to support earlier theorization and propose rival theories for results contrary to expectations. We also noted longitudinal differences in the virtuous cycles.

This study explores how Toyota Motor Philippines and Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines) Inc., maximize their resource productivity considering the inherent structural limitations in the country. Currently, the companies rely on eco-friendly product designs from their Japanese headquarters but improvise on waste reduction, pollution prevention, and the adoption of clean technologies.
