概要	This paper considers how an understanding of textual structuring can help teachers solve practical problems in the language classroom. More specifically, it explores gaps in the way that coursebooks approach the teaching of reading in college reading instruction and proposes techniques for addressing these issues with reference to analytical techniques developed by Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL).
