概要 University students are increasingly using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) for tasks like writing and translation, yet many academic integrity policies do not address it. This article examines GenAI policies in 12 major American universities and 10 English-medium universities in Japan by analyzing 22 academic integrity documents and GenAI statements. The findings highlight several issues: access to GenAI guidelines is inconsistent and often presented as ad hoc documents; GenAI usage is frequently equated with plagiarism; responsibility for ethical use falls mainly on students; information on ethical use is scarce; and teachers receive more support than students regarding GenAI. The article suggests the need for a more comprehensive approach to GenAI in university policies.
