| 概要 | This rat study examined how serotonergic treatments alter fear behavior and midbrain dopamine changes induced by periaqueductal gray stimulation. Acute escitalopram, but not buspirone, reduced anticipatory freezing, while chronic administration of either drug produced an anxiolytic effect. Stimulation increased the number of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive neurons in the ventral tegmental area, and chronic serotonergic treatment normalized this increase. The findings connect therapeutic effects on defensive behavior with adaptations in midbrain dopamine systems, suggesting that serotonin-based treatments may regulate fear partly by restoring stimulation-induced dopaminergic imbalance. |
