| 概要 | This electrophysiological study recorded putative ventral tegmental dopamine neurons while rats used occasion setters to interpret discriminative cues. At the population level, neurons did not respond uniformly to the occasion-setting cue. Individual units instead showed heterogeneous increases, decreases, or no change, and responses to discriminative stimuli were likewise more diverse than the population average suggested. The results indicate that dopamine activity reflects contextual control through locally differentiated signals rather than a single homogeneous value code. They also caution against inferring uniform neuronal functions from population-level averages alone. |
