概要	This study examines how microfinance institutions (MFIs) balance their dual mission of achieving financial sustainability while promoting social impact through entrepreneurial outreach. Using data from 1,182 MFIs across 122 countries over nearly two decades, the research investigates the relationship between outreach activities and financial performance. The findings show that MFIs serving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) tend to achieve stronger financial results, suggesting a complementary relationship between SME support and sustainability. In contrast, greater outreach to micro-entrepreneurs is associated with lower financial performance. The study highlights both the opportunities and challenges MFIs face in pursuing financial and social objectives simultaneously.
