概要	This study compared anxiety-related behavior in young and aged Sprague–Dawley rats under aversive and less aversive testing conditions. Animals completed the home-cage emergence and elevated-plus-maze tests under bright or dim illumination. Young rats emerged sooner and explored more, whereas bright light increased anxiety-related behavior in both age groups. Age also interacted with illumination differently across measures, indicating that the tasks capture partly distinct components of anxiety and exploration. The results show that age and environmental aversiveness must both be considered when interpreting rodent anxiety tests.
