概要 This placebo-controlled experiment separated two processes often treated as equivalent: sensitivity to negative feedback and the ability to reverse a learned choice. Forty-four healthy participants received tryptophan or placebo before completing probabilistic learning tasks. Tryptophan increased behavioral sensitivity to negative feedback but did not improve probabilistic reversal learning. The dissociation indicates that serotonergic precursor availability can alter how strongly people respond to unfavorable outcomes without necessarily improving flexible updating of established stimulus–reward associations. The study therefore refines accounts linking serotonin broadly to punishment processing and cognitive flexibility.
