| 概要 | This review evaluates evidence that brief, phasic signals from midbrain dopamine neurons play a causal role in learning rather than merely correlating with reward. It considers optogenetic studies that activate or inhibit dopamine neurons at precisely defined moments and relates their findings to reward-prediction errors, action selection, goal-directed behavior, and behavioral flexibility. The article argues that temporally specific dopamine activity can instruct learning and influence subsequent choices, while emphasizing that dopamine’s effects depend on circuit, timing, and task. It also identifies limitations that future causal experiments should address. |
