概要	The paper compares the health of the banking sectors in Japan and South Korea before and during COVID-19, focusing on assets, profitability, productivity, capital, and efficiency. It finds that Japanese banks were already under pressure from prolonged ultra-low interest rates, with COVID-19 worsening several financial indicators. South Korean banks generally showed stronger efficiency, profitability, and lower non-performing loans, although their performance also declined somewhat in 2020.
