概要	This study compared cognition, hippocampal neuronal loss, and amyloid deposition across male and female 5xFAD mice. Cognitive impairment emerged at six months and coincided with neuronal loss in the subiculum rather than with the initial appearance of amyloid plaques, which occurred earlier. Females showed earlier or greater pathological and behavioral changes in several measures. The results suggest that neuronal loss may track functional decline more closely than plaque onset and that sex substantially shapes disease progression. Both variables should therefore be incorporated into preclinical Alzheimer’s study design and therapeutic evaluation.
