Details | Highlights •We studied factors associated with abandonment of infants in maternity wards in Kazakhstan. •Being unmarried, having an unwanted pregnancy and a low birth weight baby are predictors of infant abandonment. •Greater openness and more research are needed for identification of women at-risk and development of preventive programmes. |
