概要 Over the last several years, a number of homeless people have been drastically visible on the streets in major sightseeing regions of Hawaii. Not only has a rising population of homeless people been extremely problematic for residents, but also their presence has been bringing great detriment to Hawaii’s major tourism industry. Currently, it is at the almost impossible stage for public sectors to resolve all social problems, including homeless. In such socially challenging circumstances, NPO plays a significant role in dealing with such a complicated social agenda. This study investigates three NPOs; Aloha United Way(AUW), Institute of Human Services Inc.(IHS)and River of Life Mission(ROLM), in Oahu, Hawaii. The purpose of this article is to conclude with some suggestions for the possibility of the NPOs to solve the problems of poverty including homeless, based on the study of three NPOs, examining their roles and impact on Hawaii.
