Details | This study sought to describe the extent to which newly entering college students in Japan are familiar with the most frequent two thousand words of the English language. Participants claimed to know 47% of the 2K General Service List (GSL) and 72% of the 1K GSL, which supports other research that demonstrates the need for interventions that teach high frequency vocabulary in English. Note: The article also provided a list of the "Forgotten 400" high frequency words that could be taught in pre-enrollment English programs. |
