| Details | This study examines how hospitality employees recover during work breaks through interviews with 29 hotel employees in Japan. It identifies nine recovery activities and eight recovery experiences, including two new experiences: reconnection and refreshment. The findings reveal a two-phase recovery process in which employees undergo multiple experiences to achieve recovery, while highlighting the importance of workplace contextual constraints. The study provides practical insights for designing organisational practices that better support employee recovery during breaks. |
