概要	Pakistan is a third world country with more than 60% of the population living below poverty line. Various NGOs are working in different areas of the country to help improve the living conditions of the people. I have been involved with one such NGO known as the Kawish Welfare Trust. This NGO is running more than 100 primary schools, some vocational training centers and free basic health units. I visited their two main hub sites in Muzaffargarh. These sites included one primary school, one vocational training institute for skill development of poor girls and one basic health unit for providing free healthcare to the poor people of the area. These two hubs were being very badly affected by the power shortage in the area. They would not receive electricity for 18 to 20 hours every day and it was not possible for them to carry on their operations smoothly. I helped them in preparing a project funding request for the Japanese Embassy in Pakistan for installing a hybrid renewable energy system based on small wind turbine and solar power. The same proposal was submitted to the Japan Embassy in Pakistan for “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project”.
