概要 Sharp Corporation's business performance has been improved. Consolidated operating profit margin for 2003 was a very respectable 5.4%, far exceeding the other major electronics manufacturers. Sharp produces a wide range of products that have the largest worldwide market share. The company is ranked first in liquid-crystal-display (LCD) TVs with a 50% share of the worldwide market, occupies first place in small-to-medium-size LCD panels, and again has the largest share of the market in solar cells and opto-electronic devices. 1) To better understand Sharp's extraordinary performance, this paper research the source of Sharp's competitive edge and analyze the company's competitive strategies, development, and commercialization from the perspective of LCD business which is the Sharp's core competency.
