事項 Case Study "Recovery Strategy from Flat Television Competition: Case of Sharp Corporation”
概要 Japanese companies of home electric appliance, such as Sony, Panasonic and Sharp, suffered the big deficits in 2011FY. The deficits are caused mainly by the flat television business. Sharp took the recovery strategy quickly. First, Sharp entered into agreement in March, 2012 with Hon Hai group, the world's leading EMS (electronic manufacturing service) company, to establish strategic global partnership. Second, Sharp has developed a new oxide semiconductor (IGZO) technology with high crystallinity. This material will enable even higher resolutions, lower power consumption for LCD. In March 2012 at Kameyama Plant No. 2, Sharp began producing the LCD panels incorporating IGZO semiconductors. It may create smart TV. What is the effect of the recovery strategy? The object of this case is to analyze and evaluate and understand the strategy of technology using hot issue.
