|Practical Example of Education Technique
|Ensuring partcipation in a large class (215 to 250 students)
|The goal of achieving participation in my large undergraduate classes is a continuation of the strategy of engaging students to the class. In order to engage students to my lectures and student presentations , I select cases relevant to the lecture topic that all students are required to read and a small group of students are selected to make presentation on them. Another small group of students are selected to act as discussants for those presentations. Discussants are required to prepare at least five questions from the case and ask at least two of them in the class. The discussants are also required to grade presentations from their classmates in a rubric known as peer grading. In grading presentation , I take peer grading into account.
